Project Summary
Scope of work:
Emergency repairs to the promenade and rock armour to protect existing defences at Avon Beach. Rebuilding of groynes at Friars Cliff Beach.
Contract included:
- Repairs to the seawall
- Fill voids to promenade with reinforced concrete
- Fix the concrete canvas to the failed sheet piles
- Supply & place 1,500 tonnes of locally sourced rock armour to protect seawall/concrete terracing and rebuild 3 no. groynes
- Demolition and disposal of 50 storm damaged timber beach huts
- Clear debris from the beach and re-profile sand/shingle
- Survey promenade to identify potential undiscovered voids
