WE SMASHED IT! OPEN DAY RAISED £25K FOR CHARITY!
18 August 2025
Thank you, thank you, thank you, to everyone who helped us raise an awesome £25,000 for charity at our annual Charity Open Day. We were lucky enough to have the perfect weather, sunny but not unbearably hot. We had a wonderful turn out for our display, some lovely classic cars (thank you Steve Brooks et al—love your Zephyr!), some classic motor bikes, a brilliant display of American trucks (thank you Gerry and friends) and some beautiful exam-ples of working steam engines, who were good enough to provide some trailer rides around the field, a real treat for the kids and grown-up kids amongst us!
Bill and the team did a great job of working on a display, and Woodward Tree Surgeons put on an interesting display of tree felling. Folds Farm beefburgers, sausages and venison burgers were expertly cooked on the new bespoke Caterpillar BBQ and served by Cindy and Paul Rolph and their crew—a long day cooking in the heat! Bacon rolls, to get the day started, with tea and cakes throughout the day, provided and served by Sian and her team.
It was great to have support too from the charities benefiting from the day, providing a bit of light entertainment in the form of games for our younger audience, who also enjoyed the free bouncy castle.
We are proud to say that 100% of the money taken from the entry, the BBQ, the tea tent and the raffle goes to charity—we do not recoup any of the expenses we incur from putting the event on. Lots of staff and friends helped make the day a success and gave up their Saturday volunteering with us—apologies if you are not named here, but we know who you are, and you are stars. Thank you.

Earlcoate Takes to the Screen!
21 February 2025
When local Woodgreen resident Ann Blake called and asked for some help making an informative film to raise awareness and funds for the Muscular Dystrophy charity, a condition she suffers from herself, we were pleased to help. Having been in great health and living a normal life like us all, Ann was diagnosed in 2018 with this muscle-wasting disease. Reeling from that diagnosis, she then found out her son also had the condition. Determined to make the most of her new situation and to help others, Ann, along with her disability assistance dog Snoopy, is raising awareness for both the MD charity and ‘Dog A.I.D’ (Dog Assistance in Disability) charity.
Ann wrote a short film in which she is caught at a set of roadworks (enter Earlcoate) and made to stop. As a fast and furious Porsche driver pulls up intimidatingly beside her, the road works turn green and she is waved on through, before the Porsche. A metaphor for an attitude towards life—don’t let things hold you back.
Andy Goudge (aka Five-Bar) and Fred Pearce got themselves into some clean hi-viz, took a freshly washed transit and van, Stop/Go boards and some traffic cones and took themselves up to Stony Cross near Cadnam, as the chosen ‘set’ for filming. With a local Emmy award-winning cameraman directing the show, they did a great job—and there is a particular layby in the New Forest that has never been swept so clean, thanks to Fred!!
