We delivered a sea defence contract valued at 1.2M for Bunn Leisure at West Sands on Selsey Bill. The contract encompassed the construction of two rock armour breakwaters, built from 90,000 tons of granite imported from Norway and then the placement of 360,000m3 of beach nourishment (pumped ashore from a dredging vessel).
To improve access to the breakwaters, two temporary causeways have been constructed from 800kg sand bags and rock armour. The causeways provide a greatly extended tidal working window. Plant on site ranged from 20 to 85 ton excavators coupled with four 40 ton rock body dump trucks providing a fast efficient transfer.
